I wanted to share a bit of my story with you, as well as direct you to a picture of Mel’s bracelets in action. I’m a 2x breast cancer survivor (two different cancers in 12 months, in 2009 & 2010). I met some actual friends of Mel on a Delta flight in July 2010. I was on a business trip while in the middle of 8 rounds of chemo. I was bald & bloated!
I noticed one of the flight attendants wearing a colorful bracelet and complimented her on it. She told me the story of the bracelet, and it turned out there were three flight attendants who’d known Mel personally. At the end of the flight, the first one took off her bracelet and gave it to me. I’ve worn it daily since, bought a second, and bought them for my mother & sister (also breast cancer survivors). I’ve also mentioned Friends of Mel to many of my own friends, and I know some have purchased bracelets.
Anyway, I’ve just had a nice article published about my new business in the Minneapolis newspaper (http://www.startribune.com/business/137783503.html?page=1&c=y). If you look on my left wrist, you’ll see my two Mel’s bracelets – the first one given to me by the flight attendant, and a “special edition” one – because I’m a BC survivor (that’s what the Delta flight attendants said!). For Mother’s Day, I’m going to purchase a Mel’s bracelet to give away on my site. Please keep up the wonderful work.
