In 2002 our 32 year old daughter was diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer. At the time she was teaching English Literature at a high school in Massachusetts. Mel’s niece was one of her students and she gave her the first Mel’s Bracelet we had ever seen. Our battle with breast cancer ended in 2006. When we arrived at the memorial service one of Lisa’s co-workers handed me a gift bag with bracelets for the women in our family. I cherish that first very special bracelet and I have shared them ever since. As you know, it is almost impossible to wear one and not receive a comment or a compliment or a, “where did you get that bracelet?” I am never without a supply of bracelets and feel honored to be able to share the story and the joy of wearing mine.
